Roxbury Youth Programs provides our high school students with a wide range of activities geared toward preparing them emotionally and academically for college.
The major elements of this program are:
College Coaching: We pair our high school juniors and seniors with volunteer college coaches. Each coach works with his or her student to help provide whatever support is needed – navigating the admissions process, applying for financial aid, obtaining academic support for particular subjects, visiting colleges, writing essays, learning strategies for taking the SATs, developing checklists, and much more.
SAT Preparation: Our SAT instruction course provides individualized support to each student as he or she prepares for this important standardized test. We strive to make the course as comprehensive as possible, with practice exams, test-taking strategies, and up-to-date study materials.
Practice Interviews: We provide RYP students with four practice interviews: long, short, phone and dinner.
College visits: We take our students on field trips to a number of local colleges. Recent visits have included Bentley University, Mass College of Art, Lesley University, Framingham State College, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, and Brandeis University.
