RENEWAL HOUSE SHELTER
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER
Renewal House is a domestic violence shelter for individuals and families who are fleeing from domestic violence.
Renewal House operates within a network of organizations providing safe, confidential shelter and healing services
to those fleeing violence. Residents of the shelter receive counseling and support services throughout their stay at the shelter. Additionally, staff help those residents who are looking for permanent housing.
We are unique in that we continue to engage former residents long after they move on from shelter through individual support services and group events.
In operation since 1980, Renewal House was one of the first domestic violence shelters in the state to provide shelter for male survivors, and we now work closely with programs across Greater Boston in order to bring culturally-responsive and LGBTQ-inclusive advocacy and counseling to those we serve.
Renewal House is partially supported by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) funding, administered by the Massachusetts Office of Victim Assistance (MOVA).
Renewal House is a member of The Greater Boston Food Bank.
All of our domestic violence services are free and confidential.
The Urban Ministry's domestic violence programs are proud members of Jane Doe Inc., the Massachusetts Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic violence.
