Renewal House is a domestic violence shelter for individuals and families who are fleeing from domestic violence.

Renewal House operates within a network of organizations providing safe, confidential shelter and healing services to those fleeing violence. Residents of the shelter receive counseling and support services throughout their stay at the shelter. Additionally, staff help those residents who are looking for permanent housing.
We are unique in that we continue to engage former residents long after they move on from shelter through individual support services and group events.

In operation since 1980, Renewal House was one of the first domestic violence shelters in the state to provide shelter for male survivors, and we now work closely with programs across Greater Boston in order to bring culturally-responsive and LGBTQ-inclusive advocacy and counseling to those we serve.
Beauty of the Ashes - The Story of Our Residents
Previous residents at Renewal House wanted to tell their stories that have not been heard before. Through different visual and auditory art, survivors were able to tell their journey of trauma, healing, and hope. These different pieces serve as a testament of the strength and courage they have faced. While the exhibition also highlights the therapeutic power of art, while boosting community awareness of domestic violence.

This exhibition features the work of Lisa Lee, a local artist.
