Experience Roxbury Through the Eyes of Its Youth
During the past school year, RYP students have developed this walking tour that focuses on the history, culture, and community of Roxbury.
In collaboration with Collin Knight of Live Like a Local Tours, the students spent months researching, learning from local historians and cultural leaders, and exploring their own connections to the neighborhood. They’ve crafted a tour that weaves together the past, present, and future of Roxbury through storytelling, reflection, and personal experience.
What makes this tour special? A personal connection.Our youth guides connect the historical landmarks to their own lived experiences. You will hear firsthand what these places mean to the youth of Roxbury today and how they see themselves reflected in the stories of this neighborhood.
