Roxbury Youth Programs

Roxbury Youth Program (RYP) is a comprehensive program serving approximately 50 at-risk middle and high school students, providing a safe, enriching environment for young people during out-of-school hours. With the help of dedicated volunteers, RYP offers opportunities for youth to build self-esteem and improve their academic, interpersonal and leadership skills, empowering them to be leaders in their families, schools and communities.

RYP provides:

  • Daily homework assistance and tutoring
  • SAT preparation
  • College application support and campus visits
  • Activities promoting healthy lifestyles
  • Opportunities for civic engagement
  • Hot meals and transportation home
  • Safe dating and healthy relationships class

RYP’s highest priority is promoting academic success, and we make use of more than 50 dedicated volunteers to provide a wide spectrum of academic support to students.

Funderburg Scholars, a special program component of RYP, rewards students for their personal and academic achievements with points called “scholar dollars.” These dollars can be applied towards the purchase of school supplies, books, and even college tuition.
