Stand High/Stand United
Stand High/Stand United is a weekend enrichment program serving about 50 children, ages 7 to 15.
The objectives of Stand High/Stand United are to
- promote self-expression through the arts and outward bound exploration, and
- provide opportunities for youth leadership and personal growth.
Stand High/Stand United children participate in Explorer’s Clubs, which provide educational and enrichment workshops that involve children, volunteers, and volunteer mentors. Explorer’s Clubs also serve to build community and nurture the mentoring relationships that develop between children and the volunteer mentors. Program participants also take Field Trips to places beyond the UU Urban Ministry campus, providing further enrichment and exploration opportunities for children and volunteers.
