Stand High/Stand United
A Day in the Life
The primary activity of Stand High/Stand United is Explorers Club, which occur on at least one (sometimes two) Saturdays each month. Explorers Club activities are often sponsored by Boston-area UU congregations and feature fun and educational workshops and activities on a variety of subjects.
Recent Explorers Clubs include:
- Paper Making
- Harvest Day
- Hiking
- Music
- Ice skating
- Beekeeping
- Team Games
- Kite Making
- Nutrition
The program's mentoring component pairs children with carefully screened volunteers, who participate in Explorers Clubs together as well as various off-site activities. These relationships often last much longer than the one-year commitment by volunteer mentors and foster deepened trust and understanding for both children and adults.
